A winter wonderland and a trekkers delight, the Har Ki Doon Trek is a stairway to heaven that will make you fall for its beauty. The thing that makes it an alluring trek is its accessibility both in summer as well as the winter season. Har Ki Dun valley is situated at the western flank of Garhwal in the Uttarkashi district is very popular to the trekkers as well as that to the climbers. It is a lovely walk to the Har Ki Dun valley with fascinating views of Swargarohini group of peaks. Har Ki Dun catchment area is a major source of Yamuna River System and the main source of the largest tributary of Yamuna.It takes you through some of the most charismatic alpine meadows and pine forests which is a treat to the eyes. During winters the snow-covered trails look mesmerizing as and when the sun tries to peep behind the clouds. One of the oldest Treks in the Himalayas, known as the 'Valley of Gods', some believe it's the same route taken by the Pandavas in the Mahabharata on their ascent to heaven. Swargarohini—the snow peak, the vision of which dominates this trek bears a legacy of the mythical stairway to heaven.It's a delightful experience when you're camping near the flowing river, the forest here is rich in flora and fauna which has an engaging vibe of its own. You are able to see Swargarohini – I, II, III, Bandarpoonch, and Blackpeak from here. The Har Ki Dun trail takes you through some of the ancient villages that are 2,000 years old. It gives you an insight into the lives of the locals who are residing here in the valley. This trek is heaven for nature lovers, adventure seekers and also shutterbugs. You can even spot various species of birds that thrive in this region. Capture some thrilling pictures on the trail which will last a lifetime.


Day 1 - Dehradun To Sankri 210 Kms

The exotic and fascinating Har ki dun commences from Dehradun city. The trekkers for the trip should reach Dehradun on the day before the trip commences or before 6 AM of the commencing date. The trekkers will be received warmly by the authorized personal from Dehradun at 6:30 AM for a onward journey to Tiger fall . Tiger is located The Tiger Falls are hidden in the hilly terrains of Chakrata in Uttarakhand, India. It is 98 kms from the state capital, Dehradun, 20 kms from Chakrata and can be reached by a 5 kms trek with rhododendron and oak trees surroundings. It’s a long scenic drive on a Tata Sumo or a similar vehicle providing absolute comfort to the trekkers so that they can enjoy the beauty of the location.We will also visit lakhamandal in our way to Sankri. Lakhamandal is an ancient Hindu temple complex, situated in the Jaunsar-Bawar region of Dehradun district in the state of Uttarakhand. The temple is dedicated to lord Shiva. This temple is popular among the Shakti Cult, who believe that a visit to this temple shrine will end their misfortunes. In the midst one can enjoy the lunch break at the popular eateries having some local food and homemade spices.As we procide all the mesmerizing views will be in your memories forever . The expected time to reach Sankri is 5 PM but since in some areas the roads are a little bumpy and rough, the time can be a little longer. However on reaching the destination one can check in to the prior booked hotel and our representative can help with the check in formalities. After freshening up, since the evening is free for leisure one can enjoy indoors and relax or can set out to explore the beautiful Sankri village where there are local shops and small market selling mostly daily goods and a collection of few dhabas. The BSNL network is quite erratic here so getting the phone lines can be a little difficult. However the scenic beauty of the setting sun on the Greater Himalayas from Sankri is a fabulous sight to savor. One can have dinner at the hotel premises or can enjoy dinner at the dhabas to taste some local flavors and experience the cuisine of the area. Overnight stay at the hotel.

Day 2 - Sankri to Taluka 26 Kms {Sankri to Taluka 11 Kms (vehicle), 13 Kms (Trek)}

Though the tour starts from Dehradun but the trekking trip commences from Sankri only. Having an early start after a healthy breakfast at the hotel it’s a journey straight towards Taluka which is based at an altitude of 2,100 Kms/7,000 feet. It’s a 12 kms car journey and the approximate 14 trek to Taluka. The journey begins by moving out of Sankri village through an extension called Sor. Once the village is crossed the road takes a wide curve and climbs sharply. Moving along the stream this is the road that moves towards the Har ki doon. The initial climb would be climbing several bridges through dense forest trees and thick carpet of maple and pine leaves all brown in color. It’s an exquisite vision and a pictorial view that leaves all mesmerized. The trail is wide and one can hear the sounds of running streams all through but may not be in view till much further. On the way one can view remote villages where women and kids are found carrying bundles of wooden logs, wooden sticks and dry leaves to utilize them for household cooking and setting up night fire. While crunching the dried maple and oak leaves on the way up one can also view Himalayan Languars swinging from one branch of trees to another. Though they are somewhat a shy animal it’s difficult to have a gallant view of them as they move quickly from the vision’s range. Apart from this, boars, martens and hares can also be spotted in this region. After we have crossed the region and absorbing the beautyful view our journy will end in cheludgar near osla village.

Day 3 - Cheludgar to simatra 7 Kms {walk

It's a beatuful walk to smiatra from osla village and a mesmerizing view all over. after the long walk the treckers can rest for the day in their camp and get rested for the next day.

Day 4 - Simatra to Har ki doon 7 Kms

The fourth day of the trek is destined to conquer the har ki doon. Today the trekkers will have a one day visit in Har ki doon . The trekkers will have the amazing view of har ki doon meadowsand and a smearing view of the white himalayas . The day begins early with a filling breakfast and enjoying the sunrise from the Har ki doon meadows which is a simply amazing, pure and divine. One can bask in the first rays of the morning sun and gain as much energize possible for the day ahead. One can even visualize the beautiful meadows which elevates the excitement. However the view from the top and the amazing location is worth the effort . One can relax at the top for some time and enjoy the magical beauty of nature and then descend towards base camp by noon time.trekkers can engoy the view of wild life there, like the wild horses and flowers. The flora and fona and many other himalayan wild life. After a full day of exhaustion the trekkers can rest in their camps / hotels.

Day 5 - Har ki doon to Osla village 14 Kms

Today all the trekkers will walk back to osla village from Har ki doon, which is almost a 12 Kms walk for amazing view around and close experience of the wild life.As we make our way back we will have the opportunity to see all the shy animals which usually do not like to interact but seeing them is just another level experience.Stop, take a deep breath and trek away from the city into a world where the average pace of life is slower than slow.Without a doubt, I can assure you that the real India can only be experienced by visiting its various villages.Travellers looking to experience the authenticity of India must visit its ancient villages that even today give the glimpse of age-old culture and traditions.Here is the story of a village called Osla which comes enroute the Har ki doon trek in Uttarakhand.I was leading a trek to Har Ki Dun and that was when I decide to take a day hiketo Osla village.

Day 6 - osla village to Taluka 13 Kms( Taluka To Sankri 14 Kms)

Today we will walk and ride towards sankri, which is almost 14 kms of walk and 12 kms of car ride. The Sankari Village in Uttarakhand is a route to The Paradise of Himalayas for every trekker. It is not just a scenic hamlet situated in Uttarkashi district but also a trekker’s delight. The Sankri Village is the last road head to the Govind Balabh Pant Wildlife Sanctuary. The village offers ecstatic views of the Himalayan skyline and a plethora of mountain peaks, gazing at you from a distance.

Day 7- Sankri to Dehradun 210 Kms

Sankri to Dehradun and Taluka To Sankri is a beautiful ten to twelve hours journey passing through the deep pine forests and exotic flora and fauna. Kedarkantha, Bali pass, Har ki dun, Rupin pass. are few of the very popular destinations that observe the arrival of innumerable trekkers and backpackers.
