The journey for the beautiful Brahmatal peak commences from the city of Dehradun. Owing to gradually ascending rolling slopes, the Brahmatal Trek route is deemed fit for beginners and less experienced trekkers. A major part of the trek continues under forest cover, diminishing the chances of altitude sickness. All the same, the trek will not deprive one of an out and out thrilling winter experience with the sweet mellow of falling snow, a fascinating trail caught in an absolute white out, the depthless silence inside the grove of rhododendrons and oaks, and iced over lake water faces.
A special shout out for this trek goes to the shutterbugs—diverse frames, from snow-laden forests to white-gold high peaks in alpenglow, and a desolate alpine mountain-scape of a lone tree standing on icy shores of the Brahmatal lake make up the composition of this trek.


Day 1 - Kathgodam to Lohajung; Drive 218 Kms/9-10 hrs.

You will be picked up from Kathgodam Railway Station and start the journey to Lohajung. During the journey from Kathgodam to Lohajung, you will go through mountain alleyways that will connect Kumaon hills to Garhwal.
Though it will be a long journey of 9-10 hours but you will enjoy the drive because of the eye-catchy vistas of the mountains. Before reaching Lohajung, you will get an appealing view of Nanda Ghunti's peak. We will be reaching Lohajung in the evening and then stay at night.

Day 2 - Lohajung (7600 ft) to Bekaltal (9690 ft); Trek 6 Kms/4-5 hrs

The trek will begin from Lohajung central market and then move upwards to the upper region of Lohajung. After a short trek, on your left you will see Mandoli village.
After reaching Begum, it will be almost an hour hike which will take you to Bekaltal which is almost frozen at the time of winters. Bekaltal is located at an altitude of 9690 ft.

Day 3 - Bekaltal to Bhramatal (10450 ft); Trek 7 Kms /5-6 hrs

We will start the trek early in the morning and you will go through thickets of oak and rhododendrons. After a few hours of trekking the tree line will end and you will enter the meadows.
You will also get an amazing view of Mount Trishul and Mount Nanda Ghunti. We will head towards Bhramatal, from where you will get the majestic views of mountains and valleys.

Day 4 - Bhramatal to Bharamatal Top (12250 ft) and descend to Khorurai (9150 ft); Trek 8 Kms
/7 hrs

We will start the trek early in the morning and head towards the Bharamatal top which is an uphill climb. The zigzag ascent trail will take you the Bharamatal Lake which will give you a charismatic view of nature.
You will also witness a 180-degree view of the Himalayan range and peaks. Later, we will descent to Khorurai which is located at an altitude of 9150 ft.

Day 5 - Khorurai to Lohajung, Trek 3 Kms/3-4 hrs

After having breakfast in the morning, we start the trek from Khorurai to Lohajun which is almost 3km and takes almost 3 to 4 hours. The trail will go through thick forests of oak and rhododendron.

Day 6 - Lohajung to Kathgodam

Day 6 will be the last day of your trip and we will be heading back to Kathgodam. You will be reaching Kathgodam by 8 PM.
